1. Vehicle Specifications

To qualify as an MPOHV, your UTV must meet all of the following: 

Year: Manufactured after January 1, 2000. 

Design: Steered by a steering wheel and equipped with non-straddle seating (traditional handlebar/straddle ATVs do not qualify). 

Dimensions & Capacity: Maximum width of 80 inches, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) under 4,000 lbs, and a cargo capacity of at least 350 lbs. 

Speed: Capable of speeds between 25 mph and 65 mph. 

Utility Purpose: Designed primarily for utility tasks (agricultural, industrial, or construction use). 

2. Required Safety Equipment

Your vehicle must be equipped with: 

Headlights, taillights, and brake lights 

Rearview mirror 

Seat belts / safety belts 

3. Registration Process & Insurance

Where to Apply: Visit your local County Tag Office. 

Documents Needed: Proof of ownership, the completed MV-OHV affidavit, and proof of active Georgia motor vehicle liability insurance. 

Cost: $20 annual registration fee. 

Title: Georgia issues a license plate and registration certificate, but does not title MPOHVs.
